July Meeting

Wow, it seems like it's been a while since I've seen everybody. I'm glad we have our monthly meeting coming up, and the August cruise night soon after. I though I'd recap a few of the events for this weekend and the not too distant future.
  • Saturday July 26: there is a benefit Car Show for Fernando Villerreal at the Tulare Memorial Building starting at 8:00AM. He is a Porterville native who needs our help; Rollin' Relics are encouraged to go.
  • Saturday July 26: the annual Arroyo Grande Car Show, in downtown Arroyo Grande (Central Coast/Five-Cities).
  • Tuesday July 29: the Rollin' Relics monthly meeting will be held at 6:00PM at the Pizza Factory (this month only), not the Santa Fe Depot.
  • Friday August 1: the Rollin' Relics cruise night will be back (canceled July for Independence Day Holiday) at 6:00PM at the Porterville Pizza Factory; hope to see you all there!
Don't forget to vote for your favorite pony car; results will be announced at the meeting. Poll ends at 8:00PM the night before the meeting.

Got an idea for a new poll? Want to change the site? E-mail me at blueomni87@gmail.com, or tell me in person at the meeting Tuesday.

  • Saturday July 19:  the Woodlake Car Show in Woodlake
  • Saturday July 19:  the A&W Cruise Night
  • Saturday July 19:  the "Time Marches On" benefit at the Porterville Fair Grounds (Starts at 5:00PM, be there by 4:00PM) to help build a town clock at Centennial Park in downtown Porterville
  • Saturday July 26 (coming up soon):  the Arroyo Grande Car Show in downtown Arroyo Grande (Five Cities area)

Quick Update

Hi guys. I hope you all had a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend. I just had a few things to mention, and thought I'd update the site. First, I added a new poll a few days ago. Vote on your all-time favorite "pony car." What had the best body lines? The best engines? Mopar? FoMoCo? GM? Vote for your preferred musting imitator before this month's meeting, where I'll announce the results.

Secondly, and more importantly, I've got an update from Tim Day about the "Time Marches On" fund raiser for an old time downtown city clock in Centennial Park, across from the Porterville City Hall. Here is the correct information, sent to me from Tim:

The cars need to arrive [at the fairgrounds] about 4 pm to get parked and setup, with the event starting at 5pm till midnight. We need to enter through the north gate on Murray and Garden street. They will let us exit through the same north gate on the hour, if people want to leave early and don't want to stay until midnight. John Dillon has additional information and "Time Marches ON" tickets for participating cars.

Hope to see you all at the breakfast run Saturday morning, 7:30AM at the Porterville Trailer Center.

Happy Fourth of July!

I don't know about you, but I had a great time at the picnic.  The chili was great, the weather was nice, and the ice cream was cold.  We even had a good showing, which was a concern.  A special thank you to everyone who set it up.  It really was a job well done.

Here are a few things to note coming up this month:
  • No Cruise Night July Fourth, in honor of Independence Day.  The Rollin' Relics will not hold a cruise night in July.  That doesn't mean that you can't go to the A&W Cruise Night the 19th, or the Aero Dog Cruise Night in Tulare, though.
  • The Rollin' Relics Car Club will be supporting the "Time Marches On" fund raiser on July 19th at the Porterville Fairgrounds.  This event will go to realizing Buck Shaffer's dream of a town square clock at the Centennial Park in downtown Porterville, across the street from City Hall.  Bring your cars to the Porterville Fairgrounds at 5:00PM on the 19th for entry.  We need at least 13 members to show up for this event, so let's get to it.  Those interested should contact John Dillon for further details.
The Rn'R Blog would also like to congratulate the Fresno State Bulldog's Baseball Team on it's national championship; this first men's championship in the school's history.  Go Dogs!
