Rn'R Blog Update

I'm going to start trying out a few new things with the Rn'R Blog over the next few days and weeks.  You might not notice many differences, but I thought I would bring up a few important ones.

One thing that a lot of people have been asking for is a hit counter--a tally for the number of visitors to the site.  It doesn't take much to get it going and it won't cost anything.  I should have a counter up and running by the end of the month.

Another thing you might notice (it's already up and working) is the survey.  Every month, I'll post a new survey/poll that anyone can vote on.  You can check it out and vote now; it's just down and to the left below the blog archive.  Because of the active discussion at the last meeting, this months question is: where should the Rollin' Relics hold their monthly meetings?  The poll will close the day before the June meeting so I can announce the results to the club.

Let me note, this poll is not official.  The club will not change its meeting place based upon this poll; it's just to inspire discussion and have fun.  If the poll becomes popular, I might even do it more often (weekly?).  Either way, I hope you enjoy the site, and I'll keep trying to make it better.

June Meeting / Events

For those of you that missed it, tonight was the monthly meeting. One of the hot button topics at the meeting was where to hold future meetings. Some members have considered a very nice offer from the Pizza Factory to allow us to hold our meetings there. Of course, we have already signed up and paid for use of the Santa Fe Plaza for a while. We will probably try to have a "sample" meeting at the Pizza Factory in July. What do you guys think?

On another note, the Rn'R Blog would like to thank everyone involved in the 2008 Car Show. It took a lot of work from a lot of great people; and it really came out great. I can honestly say, that was the best Rollin' Relics Car Show I've been too. I know we all had a lot of fun.

The big event coming up this week is American Graffiti Night at the Strathmore High School THIS Saturday. Bring your car and get all the food, popcorn, etc. you can eat; and see the classic movie. We'd love to get a good showing at this event. Finally, as always, here's a copy of the June calendar. Just click on it to get a larger view that you can print out.

Rollin' Relics 2008 Car Show Photos (2)

Finally, the last of the Car Show Photos. These are the rest of what I took at the show. I know that they look small, but just click on the photo that you want to see to view it at 100%. They are compressed for the site because large ones would take up too much of the page, and because I have a slow connection. I'll try to get them printed out before the next meeting, so If you see one here of your car and want a 4X6, just come to the next meeting or cruise night.

A few events for tomorrow:
  • Breakfast Run to Dimples Diner in Visalia. Meet at the Porterville RV lot by 8:00AM
  • Exeter Car Show
  • Aero Dog Cruise Night in Tulare
  • Kernville Car Show
As Always, if you have any events or information that you would like me to add, just e-mail me at: blueomni87@yahoo.com or blueomni87@gmail.com. Enjoy the photos...

Rollin' Relics 2008 Car Show Photos (1)

Well, here's something I'll bet you've all been waiting for for a long time: Car Show photos. What a great show. These are about half of the pictures that I took, so I'll have to make you wait until tomorrow for the rest. I hope you like them. If you need any information about upcoming events, you can always check the blog archives to the left and find the post labeled "May Events" in April (just click on the little arrow next to April to open up the April archives). It should also appear for a while if you just keep scrolling down. I'll also make sure and go over more of this month's Rollin' Relic's events in my next post, so stay tuned.

Car Show News

Great News! I was just sent an e-mail from a newspaper report (I think it's from the Porterville Recorder, but I'm not sure) that included the winners of the major trophies, and a brief description of our 2008 Car Show. Here's the papers' report:

Porterville Rollin’ Relics Car Show

A beautiful spring day welcomed approximately 200 custom/classic cars and motorcycles as they rumbled into Porterville’s Veteran’s Park for the Eight Annual Rollin’ Relics Car Show on Saturday, May 3rd.

Cars came from as far away as Sacramento and Arizona. The oldest car driven in was a 1917 Ford driven by Larry Mase of Exeter.

With the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the background, eyes filled with tears as we remembered our fallen veterans when Yvonne Fiori opened the show with the singing of the National Anthem.

Highlighting the day was “Elvis” Eddie Hoffman arriving in a custom hotrod Hearst and Porterville Police Department’s demonstration of their Canine Unit. The crowd stood in awed silence as the Canine Officer followed the commands of his partner. A fun filled day was had by all.

Awards were given as follows:

Car Show Photos Coming Soon...

Hi guys.  I know you've all been waiting for new photos of the Rollin' Relics 2008 Car Show.  Well, I've got a lot of them.  Some of you even sent a few in (thanks, by the way).  Now I just have to cut my selection down so I can post them here.  Unfortunately, I can't put them all on, and it takes a while (dial-up, ugh!); but I'll get as many posted as I can over the next few days.  What a great show, though!  I don't think we've ever had that many entries.  Not to mention the great addition of the A&W Truck, huh?  That really hit the spot on a warm day.

But that's not all.  This and every Thursday, go on down to Visalia for the weekly A&W Cruise Night in on Mooney Blvd.  This is really a great cruise night, and you get to eat at A&W.  That's worth the trip right there.  I'll try and get out there tomorrow and take some photos, so if you want your car's picture right here, get on out there.  Hope to see lots of Rollin' Relics soon.
