Quick Event Update

Just a quick update to post some new and updated flyers.  The first is the more “official” version of the Poker Run ‘09 Flyer.  If you would like your own copy of this release for print, just click on it and print one out.  This version is slightly different from the one originally posted earlier due to the notable absences of the event date and club insignia.

Next is the flyer given to the Rollin’ Relics from the Veterans Park Car Show.  This is their first car show sponsered by Wal-Mart and Nasty Habitz Car Club to benefit the Valley Children’s Hostital.  This event will take place Saturday, August 8th just after our monthly breakfast run.  I hope this helps out.

Car Show News Write-up

Hi Guys. Sorry I haven't gotten a chance to post the photos from the car show yet, but they will be up soon. To keep you occupied for the time being, here is the news article about the show, describing the events of the day in detail. Enjoy.

Annual Rollin’ Relics Car Show

On Saturday, May 2nd, Porterville’s Rollin’ Relics Car Club held their Ninth Annual Car and Motorcycle Show. Bad weather caused cancellation of the pre-registration cruise night the previous evening. The next morning, even the threat of rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of 107 car enthusiasts from as far away as El Dorado Hills as they began arriving at Veteran’s Park in Porterville for the annual show. By the time the show opened the sun was shining as Yvonne Fiori sang The National Anthem. All thru the day, large crowds of faithful spectators showed up and took their time roaming through out the beautiful cars. Whether dreaming or reminiscing, everyone appeared to be having a wonderful day.

Despite the current economic woes, individuals and sponsors alike dug deep into their pockets to make this event a success. All proceeds earned goes back into the local community to benefit Porterville youth activities and other community projects.

Seven Major Trophies were awarded to the following:

Best of Show Sponsored by Beebe Mobile Detail: Dave & Margaret Smith-- 1940 Chrysler Coupe.

Best Interior Sponsored by Auto Oil Changers: Gerald Holbrook--1937 Ford Coupe.

Best Engine Sponsored by Edwards Automotive: Don Marberry--1923 Ford T-Bucket

Best Paint Sponsored by 91 Octane: George Craven--1955 Ford F-100

Best Under Construction Sponsored by Milinich Body Works: Casey Filippi 1930 Ford Model “A”.

Best Custom Motorcycle Sponsored by Rick’s Place: Chris Cook--2008 Harley Rigid

Best Stock Motorcycle Sponsored by Reyna Concrete Construction: Larry Carbajal--2007 Harley Classic.

Eight Special Trophies were awarded to the following:

Mayor’s Sponsored by Chad’s Auto Glass: T-Ray Scott—62 Chevy SS Nova

Fire Fighters Assn Sponsored by Fire Fighters Assn: Bill Andrews—1959 Chevy Corvette

Police Chief’s Sponsored by Police Assn: Gil Moreno—1955 Chevy Nomad Wagon

CHP’s Sponsored by Bonanza Motors: Bertha Summers—1953 Mercury Monterey

Veteran’s Sponsored by Designs by Dillon: Gary Carmichael/Ed Whiteley—1969 Chevy Camero

Long Distance Sponsored by Tom Wright, State Farm: Joe Mitchell—1969 Plymouth Roadrunner

Best Mopar Sponsored by Mark Sidley’s Porterville Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge: Joe Mitchell—1969 Plymouth Roadrunner.

Club Participation Sponsored by Rollin’ Relics Car Club: Small Town Cruisers.

Lee Ware Memorial Sponsored by Sierra Street Rods: Casey Filippi—1920 Ford Model “A”.

Best Pickup Sponsored by Graphic Emporium: Joe Vargas—1968 Chevy.
